Privacy Policy — Accessible Quran

This policy explains how the Accessible Quran app handles your data. The app is private by design: it requires no account, does not track you, and shows no ads.

Location

The app requests "while using" access to your location for two purposes only: calculating prayer times and determining the Qibla direction. Both prayer times and the Qibla direction are computed entirely on your device, and your coordinates never leave it. We do not store your location, and never use it for tracking or advertising. You can decline or revoke the permission at any time in system settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.

Notifications

Prayer-time and wird reminders are created and scheduled locally on your device, and do not pass through any server.

If you allow the app's notifications, we notify you when we reply to your message or when an important update is out. For that, our server keeps an identifier Apple issues for your device to deliver notifications, and uses it for nothing else. If you turn off the app's notifications in your device's settings, we delete it the next time you open the app.

Audio recitations

The app lets you stream and download recitations from specialized third-party servers (mp3quran.net and everyayah.com). When you play or download a recitation, your device connects to these servers directly, so — like any internet request — they receive your IP address by the nature of the connection. We do not control these providers' practices and recommend reviewing each one's privacy policy.

iCloud sync

If you enable sync, the app stores your reading position, bookmarks, and settings in your private iCloud database (CloudKit) tied to your Apple account. This data stays within your account and we cannot access it; it is subject to Apple's privacy terms. You can turn sync off in the app's settings at any time. To delete your data stored in iCloud, use the "Clear iCloud Data" option in the app's sync settings, or remove it from your device's iCloud storage settings.

Usage statistics

The app collects anonymous statistics about how its features are used, along with the device type and app version, so we know what to improve. They never include what you read, write, or recite, or your location; they are not linked to your identity, and are not used for tracking or advertising. We rely on our legitimate interest in improving the app, and because the statistics are anonymous, they cannot be traced back to you.

Help and support

When you send a report or a suggestion from Help and support, we receive what you wrote, anything you choose to attach — a screenshot or technical details about the app, shown to you before sending — and a random identifier that lets you follow the replies to your reports. Sending a report is optional and done with your consent; we use it only to reply to you and to fix problems. We keep a report to follow it up and as a record of its fix, screenshots are deleted automatically after 90 days, and you can ask us to delete a report at any time.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete the data you sent us, or withdraw your consent, by emailing us. If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can address it; you may also contact the data protection authority in your country.

Children's data

The app is suitable for all ages and asks no one for information that identifies them.

Third parties

  • Apple — for iCloud sync and for delivering notifications.
  • Recitation servers: mp3quran.net and everyayah.com — when listening or downloading.
  • Service providers acting on our behalf, for usage statistics and for receiving reports. They protect this data to the same standard as this policy, use it for no other purpose, and may process it outside your country.

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The last-updated date appears at the top of this page.
