Privacy Policy — Accessible Quran

This policy explains how the Accessible Quran app handles your data. The app is private by design: it collects no personal data, uses no tracking, analytics, or advertising, and requires no account.

  • The data you create — reading position, bookmarks, and settings — stays on your device, and syncs (if you enable it) through your own iCloud account only.

Location

The app requests "while using" access to your location for two purposes only: calculating prayer times and determining the Qibla direction. The Qibla direction is computed on your device, while your coordinates are sent to an external prayer-times service (aladhan.com) to retrieve prayer times. We do not store your location, and never use it for tracking or advertising. You can decline or revoke the permission at any time in system settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.

Notifications

Prayer-time and wird reminder notifications are created and scheduled locally on your device. They do not pass through our servers and contain no personal data.

Audio recitations

The app lets you stream and download recitations from specialized third-party servers (mp3quran.net and everyayah.com). When you play or download a recitation, your device connects to these servers directly, so — like any internet request — they receive your IP address by the nature of the connection. We do not control these providers' practices and recommend reviewing each one's privacy policy.

iCloud sync

If you enable sync, the app stores your reading position, bookmarks, and settings in your private iCloud database (CloudKit) tied to your Apple account. This data stays within your account and we cannot access it; it is subject to Apple's privacy terms. You can turn sync off in the app's settings at any time. To delete your data stored in iCloud, use the "Clear iCloud Data" option in the app's sync settings, or remove it from your device's iCloud storage settings.

Children's data

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from any user, including children.

Third parties

The only parties your device may contact while using the app:

  • Apple — for iCloud sync and system-level notifications.
  • Recitation servers: mp3quran.net and everyayah.com — when listening or downloading.

We may update this policy from time to time. The last-updated date appears at the top of this page.
